Mock rock
- An alternative to both a plain concrete finish and the highly textured (and perhaps expensive) pebble finish is "mock rock"
- The concrete cell fill is pigmented and is brushed into a rough texture.
- Apparent safe velocity is 15 metres per sec
- In this photo the protected area extends 15 metres beyond the bare "mock rock" area to allow for seasonal floodwaters
- This approach allows continuous year-round flow without stagnant puddles
- Such protected channels can be trafficked
- Designing for high velocities allows litter to be washed down into designated traps
