Introduction
Core from concrete “cell slab”
- Core from site showing deformation of cell wall which results in a 3D mechanical interlock of Hyson Cells concrete “cell slabs”
- Loads are transferred horizontally and depend on “concrete to concrete” compressive strength, not only friction
- The Hyson Cells “cell slab” is therefore a flexible mat of interlocked concrete cubes
- Curing shrinkage of concrete in the small cell gives shrinkage at cell walls of only 10 to 20 microns. This gap releases hydrostatic and pore pressures but will not allow pumping of fines
Tests have indicated “water proof” to 4 metre head of water.
