Walls
Wall supporting slipping piling
- Piling near a national road at the head of a 50 metre slope was slipping and needed supporting by a gravity mass wall
- Fill to the cells was in-situ basalt compacted to 90%
- The exposed vertical faces to the cell walls needed protection against fire. A Hyson Cells erosion blanket was therefore draped over the stepped wall and vegetated. The photo shows the start of the process of draping the dark green blanket over the stepped wall. Unfortunately the photo does not show the 50 metre height of the wall.
- Site vehicles trafficked the wall during construction to gain access to other parts of the site. This traffic assisted compaction of the individual layers.
