Vegetated embankment protection

	Hyson Cells
	Helps retain the soil on the slope in high rainfall areas until vegetation becomes established and roots act as the final protection medium. Used with grasses, ground covers, shrubs.	R16	to	R25	$3	to	$4	/ m²
	This is not a major Hyson Cells market in South Africa.

	Thick walled plastic geocells	R15	to	R32	$3	to	$5	/ m²
	This is a major application for this product. It is more durable than Hyson Cells. However a weaknesses is that the rigidity of the product may inhibit the cell mat mating with the contour of a gully and therefore allow water flow under the cells.
	Cell mats are much smaller than Hyson Cells.

	The method fails because the client does not provide good enough quality topsoil nor provide adequate irrigation. Seed washes off steep faces.
